Eastern Christian School is pleased to announce the appointment of Cheryl Laux as food services director.
A 2014 EC graduate, Mrs. Laux received a bachelor’s in Family & Consumer Sciences from Messiah College and served as a culinary arts teacher in Westwood for the past four years.
Food is a gift that God provides both for nutrition for our bodies, as well as a form of art to enjoy. I am looking forward to bringing life back into the lunch program for all three campuses through Eagles Cafe. Personally, I currently live in Riverdale with my husband, Chris. We love traveling as much as we can together.
After growing up within EC, I always thought about working here one day, but there was no obvious job fit for me. I landed a job teaching culinary for four years, so I got the public school teaching experience, which confirmed I did not want to be a teacher forever. Meanwhile, the cafeteria at EC had been empty for some years, and a staff member reached out to me, asking if I would consider running the food service program. After many years of prayer and patience, it felt like God hand-crafted this new position at EC for me. I am extremely thankful for this opportunity to serve the community that raised me, and to help raise the future generations of disciples.
The Christ-like attitude of the staff is unlike any other organization I have worked for. Everyone’s passion and dedication to Christian education is inspiring. They are doing commendable work for our students in the challenging, worldly culture we live in.
