Welcome, Greta Botbyl!

A 2018 alumna of Eastern Christian School, Greta Botbyl recently graduated from William Paterson University with a bachelor’s in athletic training, as well as earned her license and certification in athletic training (LAT, ATC). Ms. Botbyl is part of the reimagining of the athletic department, serving as its first-ever athletic trainer. Her position will take on prior assistant athletic director duties while also providing significant enhancements for our athletes and our athletic program. We are excited to have a trainer and licensed professional overseeing injury prevention, diagnostics, and recovery programs for our student-athletes.

Please tell us about yourself

I grew up in North Haledon and am what is known in this community as a “lifer,” having gone to Eastern Christian from preschool all the way through the senior year! I have always been interested in playing and watching sports and am passionate about helping athletes return to sports after injuries, as well as sharing the love of Jesus with them. I love to hang out with my friends and family, and I am excited to get back into youth group leadership at my church this fall.

How did God bring you to EC?

Last year, I went to watch a girls varsity soccer game and Coach Barry Veenstra was there and he approached me, asking, “Would you ever be interested in coming back to EC and working as an athletic trainer?” I think God truly brought me back to EC because he knows that he can use me here to touch the lives of athletes and kids in the school. The school has never had my position before, so it will be an exciting challenge and opportunity to implement the role and acquire all the necessary tools in serving our athletes in the way they deserve. I am confident God will provide and allow us to strive for excellence, as one of our Athletic Pillars highlights.

Why Eastern Christian?

Specifically playing sports while I was in high school, we started every game with a team prayer and ended every game with prayer with the other school. I think it is awesome to see our kids praying with each other and other teams and supporting each other through prayer.

See what a Christ-centered education looks like for your child.
